Driving Reading Excellence Beyond Phonics

Recognising that a love of reading extends far beyond phonics, Equinox has partnered with Master Readers to ensure that primary pupils continue to develop strong literacy skills.
Equinox Learning Trust is proud to announce its partnership with Master Readers to enhance reading excellence beyond the early years. Recognising that a love of reading extends far beyond phonics, this collaboration ensures that primary pupils continue to develop strong literacy skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond.
The initiative is designed to build on early reading foundations, equipping pupils with advanced comprehension skills, critical thinking, and a deeper engagement with literature. By integrating expert-led strategies and innovative approaches, Equinox schools are ensuring that reading remains a core strength for their pupils.
Celebrating World Book Day, schools across the Trust have embraced book-themed activities and reading initiatives, reinforcing the importance of literacy in unlocking future success. Headteachers, teachers and literacy specialists have worked together to inspire pupils and highlight the transformational power of reading.
"At Equinox Learning Trust, we are committed to embedding a culture of reading that lasts a lifetime," said Francois Walker, CEO of Equinox Learning Trust. "Our partnership with Master Readers is a key step in ensuring that pupils not only learn to read but read to learn, strengthening their confidence and enthusiasm for literature well beyond the phonics stage."
A huge thank you to staff and pupils for making World Book Day (today) a truly engaging and inspiring celebration. With this ongoing commitment to literacy, Equinox Learning Trust continues to champion educational excellence and empower young minds.
